Running MIRDsoft on a Mac
MIRDsoft applications like MIRDcalc and MIRDct are built for Windows—but Mac users aren’t left out. If you have an Apple Silicon (ARM-based) Mac, you can run MIRDsoft by setting up a Windows 11 virtual machine using either Parallels Desktop or Oracle VirtualBox. The guide below walks you through both.

The guide includes step-by-step instructions with screenshots for both methods.
Please note
We can’t guarantee this will work on every system, but these instructions reflect the setup process that worked in our own testing, and we’re sharing it to help you get started.
A note on costs
Parallels Desktop is a paid subscription, while VirtualBox is free.
A quick note on software licensing
- You do not need to purchase a Microsoft Windows license. During setup, you may be prompted to enter a Windows product key and sign into a Microsoft account. If Windows setup does not prompt you for this information, allow the setup to continue as usual. You may use VirtualBox and MIRDsoft with no Windows license, so there is no need to purchase a Windows license—just select “I don’t have a product key.”
- You do need Microsoft Office (Excel). MIRDsoft applications require Excel to run, so you’ll need a valid Excel installation on your Windows virtual machine.
